Hearts of Oak’s women’s team, Oaks FC, have sealed promotion to the Ghana Women’s Premier League after a commanding 4-2 victory over Rootz Sistaz in the GFA Women’s Regional Championship.

Led by former Black Queens coach Mercy Tagoe, Oaks FC continued their perfect run in the qualifiers, securing their fourth straight win and solidifying their position at the top of Group A with a game to spare.

The win ensures their place in next season’s Women’s Premier League, where they will compete in the Southern Zone.

The Phobians wasted no time asserting their dominance. Fati Ibrahim curled in a superb free-kick in the eighth minute to open the scoring.

Nine minutes later, Victoria Yeboah doubled the lead, slotting home from an Amanda Mills cross. Mills added a third in the 33rd minute after a spell of sustained pressure, putting the game beyond Rootz Sistaz before halftime.

Although Oaks FC missed several chances to extend their lead before the break, they held a comfortable 3-0 advantage at halftime.

Rootz Sistaz showed more resilience in the second half and pulled one back seven minutes after the restart through substitute Nuratu Iddrisu. However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Esenam Sarafina converted a penalty in the 61st minute after Mills was fouled in the box.

With this impressive win, Oaks FC continue their unbeaten run and officially book their place in Ghana’s elite women’s football division.
