A list of this year's highest paid dead celebs has placed Michael Jackson at the top by a massive £282m.

The annual list by Forbes measures pre-tax earnings from 1 October 2017 to 1 October 2018 before deducting fees for agents, managers, lawyers and estate executors.

1. Michael Jackson


The King of Pop's estate raked in £313m over the past year.
He tops the list for highest earning dead celebs the sixth year in a row after dying in 2009 of an overdose.
Jackson has made £1.8bn since his death.

2. Elvis Presley


The rock and roll legend, who died of a heart attack in 1977 aged 42, made £31m over the past year from music sales, tickets to Graceland and a new entertainment complex called Elvis Presley's Memphis.

3. Arnold Palmer


The champion golfer, known as The King, made £27m this year from his golf courses and various enterprises including a mass-produced drink called the Arnold Palmer which combines sweet iced tea with lemonade.
He died in 2016 aged 87.

4. Charles Schulz


The American cartoonist, nicknamed Sparky, was best known for Peanuts, featuring Snoopy and Charlie Brown.
He died of colon cancer in 2000 aged 77 and his original strips have been printed ever since, earning him £26m this year.

5. Bob Marley


The Jamaican singer-songwriter credited with popularising Reggae music around the world earned £18m this year making the list of highest earning dead celebs.
After his death from skin cancer in 1981, aged 36, he inspired a significant merchandise industry.

6. Dr Seuss

The author and artist most well-known for his wacky children's books such as Green Eggs and Ham is part of highest earning dead celebs. He made £12m this year.
He died of oral cancer in 1991 aged 87.

7. Hugh Hefner


The playboy and magazine publisher earned £11.7m this year from his various publications, books and merchandise.
Hef died in 2017 aged 91 from sepsis. His body is interred in a crypt next to Marilyn Monroe's.

8. Marilyn Monroe


The big screen siren earned £11m thanks to several new deals, including one with Montblanc pens.
She died 56 years ago in 1962 of an overdose which was ruled as probable suicide.

9. Prince


The music star earned £10m this year, two years after he died of an accidental overdose aged 57.

10. John Lennon


One quarter of the legendary Beatles, Lennon earned £9m this year - 38 years after he was gunned down in New York.
