English-born Ghanaian midfielder Hiram Boateng had a mixed night as Mansfield Town fell 3-1 to Bolton Wanderers in a League One clash on Tuesday.

Boateng opened the scoring in the 34th minute, expertly finishing a pass from Grenadian international Lucas Akins to give Mansfield the lead.

However, his joy turned to disappointment when he received a second yellow card in the 70th minute, leaving Mansfield to play with 10 men.

Bolton wasted no time capitalizing on the advantage, equalizing five minutes later through Dion Charles.

Nigerian forward Victor Adeboyejo then gave Bolton the lead, with English-born Ghanaian defender Jordi Osei-Tutu, a second-half substitute, providing the assist.

John McAtee added a third goal late on, sealing the victory for Bolton and compounding Mansfield's woes.

Boateng's dismissal was a turning point in the game, as Mansfield struggled to hold their own with a man down.

Despite the loss, the midfielder has been a bright spot for Mansfield this season, with two goals in 15 League One appearances.

Mansfield will aim to bounce back in their next match, while Boateng will be eager to atone for his red card after serving his suspension.
