His relationship with Christians is genuine – Apostle Amoani defends Bawumia
5th December 2024
Apostle Dr. Samuel Amoani, former Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church International, has affirmed the authenticity of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's relationship with the Christian community in Ghana.
Speaking during an event in Accra, Apostle Amoani dismissed criticisms suggesting that Dr. Bawumia's engagements with Christians are politically motivated, insisting they reflect his genuine respect and love for the faith.
According to Apostle Amoani, Dr. Bawumia has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the values and principles upheld by Christianity. “His relationship with Christians is not superficial or opportunistic; it is real and deeply rooted in mutual respect,” the clergyman stated.
He further highlighted the Vice President’s frequent participation in Christian programs and initiatives as evidence of his sincerity.
Apostle Amoani also lauded Dr. Bawumia’s efforts in promoting religious tolerance and unity in Ghana. “In a country where religious diversity is our strength, his actions have fostered harmony between Christians and Muslims, setting a positive example for leaders everywhere,” he added.
Critics have often questioned the Vice President's growing association with Christian events, labeling it as a ploy to garner electoral support.
However, Apostle Amoani argued that such accusations are unfounded and politically charged. “Dr. Bawumia’s actions speak louder than words. He does not attend these events for votes; he attends because he genuinely values the Christian faith and its role in Ghana's development,” he stressed.
As Ghana prepares for the 2024 elections, the debate around political leaders and their religious affiliations continues to spark conversations.
However, Apostle Amoani’s defense underscores the importance of focusing on actions rather than assumptions. “We need leaders who can unite us beyond our differences, and Dr. Bawumia exemplifies this,” he concluded.
