The Ho High Court 1 has convicted and sentenced seven individuals in connection with the robbery and murder of Mawutor Adzahli, the former Assembly Member for Sogakope in the Volta Region.
In a judgment delivered on May 22, Justice John Ekow Mensah found three of the accused, Richard Adikyere, Stephen Adzibolo, and Emmanuel Hedzro, guilty of robbery and murder.
Richard Adikyere was sentenced to life imprisonment, while Adzibolo and Hedzro received 47-year sentences each.
Four other individuals; Samuel Kofi Zotorvi, Christian Zotorvi, Michael Sam, and Obed Ayornu pleaded guilty during the trial.
Samuel and Christian Zotorvi were each sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment, while Michael Sam and Obed Ayornu received 20-year sentences each.
According to a statement from the Volta Regional Police Command, all seven convicts are currently serving their sentences at the Ho Central Prisons.
The murder of Marcus Mawutor Adzahli, a respected figure in the Sogakope community, shocked residents and sparked widespread concern.
