Ghanaian Disc Jockey, DJ Slim, has criticized the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, for endorsing the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's presidential bid.
According to him, Ken Agyapong's reputation as an honest politician, admonishing Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia, is problematic and finds it worrying in the political space.
The DJ noted that Dr. Bawumia has not been able to deliver on the expectations of Ghanaians as vice president, which makes his presidential bid questionable.
Speaking on his Street Watching show, DJ Slim questioned why Dr. Bawumia cannot reduce import duties now, as he has promised, but will wait to become president before taking such a step.
"The current vice president says if we vote for him to become president, he will reduce import duties. Chairman, what stops you from subsidizing it now? An honest man like Ken Agyapong could stand on a platform with a man who was given a task for eight years and failed to deliver, and you are telling us that this guy [Bawumia] is the right person for Ghana.
"What happened to your honesty? You contested him in the flagbearership race because you didn't believe in his ideologies," said DJ Slim.
It will be recalled that Ken Agyapong endorsed Dr. Bawumia as the right person to lead Ghana, despite their past rivalry.
The action came as a surprise to most people, who were shocked by the MP's gesture, considering his initial stance.
The vice president's promise to reduce import duty when elected president has been met with vehement criticisms.
