South Africa coach Hugo Broos has officially unveiled his final squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria.

Bafana Bafana will play both crucial matches at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein. On September 5, they face Lesotho, who have opted to host their “home” game at the venue, before returning four days later, on September 9, to lock horns with their West African rivals Nigeria.

Currently, South Africa sits top of Group C with 13 points from six matches, five clear of both Rwanda and Benin. Nigeria, meanwhile, are fourth with just seven points, making their trip to Bloemfontein a must-win. A strong showing from Bafana could put them within touching distance of a World Cup berth in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Broos trimmed his initial provisional list down to a final 23-man squad, keeping faith with the core group that impressed at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where South Africa clinched bronze.
