Query: I am a 27-year-old woman and from past few years, I am trying to understand my sexuality better. I am in love with my boyfriend but I have started feeling attracted towards females as well. This has been happening from past two years. Does this mean bisexual? During my teens, I liked only men and now, I am physically attracted towards both the genders. How should I figure out my sexuality? —By Anonymous

Response by Ms Rashi Ahuja: Hi, thank you for sharing your query with us. I can understand you must be feeling upset while thinking about your sexuality. But relax, it is natural to feel attracted towards the people of same gender.

I can see you are confused about your sexuality. A good way to identify this is by exploring the gender you imagine your future with and see yourself getting sexually intimate. Another way could be to write down your feelings in a journal. A thorough introspection on what excites you and what you like in each gender could help you gain further clarity on this issue. Lastly, explore the ratio of males you are attracted to versus females. In most cases, sexual preferences are developed during young years itself. So think since when have you been getting attracted to females, is it just a fantasy or is it based on experience. Answering to these questions might help you gain further clarity.
