Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito cut a frustrated figure after his side were held to a goalless draw by Berekum Chelsea, admitting he was deeply disappointed with his players’ performance.

The Porcupine Warriors dominated large spells of the Matchday 18 encounter but failed to find a breakthrough, dropping two more points in their chase for the Ghana Premier League title.

Speaking after the match, Zito revealed that the result was especially painful given the emphasis placed on attacking sharpness in training during the week.

“I’m disappointed in my boys,” he said. “All week, I wish you could have observed our training sessions. We focused a lot on finishing, but unfortunately, the players were not focused.”

The former Black Satellites coach did not hide his dissatisfaction, making it clear that the draw fell well short of expectations.

“With all seriousness and honesty, I cannot accept this result,” Zito added. “But it won’t stop me from fighting for the league title.”

Despite the setback, Zito was keen to look ahead, stressing that the season is far from over. With 16 matches still to play, he believes there is time to recover lost ground, provided his team responds in the right way.

“We have 16 matches left, and we must go back to work and ensure we win our away games to make amends,” he said.

Kotoko will now turn their attention to a tough test on the road, as they travel to face defending champions Bibiani GoldStars in their Matchday 19 fixture, hoping to reignite their title push.
