Former Asante Kotoko SC head coach Karim Zito says he considers his time at the club a success, highlighting a remarkable run that saw the team win four trophies in just 43 days.
Zito took charge of the Ghanaian giants midway through the 2024/25 season as interim coach, replacing Prosper Narteh Ogum. During his short stint, he guided Kotoko to an impressive trophy haul, lifting the MTN FA Cup, the Toyota Cup, the President’s Cup and the Champion of Champions.
His achievements earned him the permanent head coach role ahead of the 2025/26 season. However, his time in charge came to an abrupt end after Kotoko suffered a disappointing FA Cup defeat at home to Aduana FC, prompting his resignation.
Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM, Zito reflected proudly on the achievements during his brief tenure.
“Winning four cups in just 43 days is not an easy task. At the end of the day, I consider myself very, very successful with Kotoko. It wasn’t easy, but we made it happen,” he said.
Following his departure, Prince Yaw Owusu has been appointed as interim coach of Kotoko. Zito has since moved on to begin a new chapter in his managerial career, taking up the head coach role at lower-tier side AshantiGold SC.
Despite the challenges that marked the end of his spell, Zito’s trophy-laden run remains one of the most memorable short managerial stints in recent Kotoko history.
