Former Asante Kotoko SC head coach Karim Zito says he has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the club in the future, despite stepping down from the role earlier this season.
Zito first took charge of the Porcupine Warriors midway through the 2024/25 campaign as interim coach, replacing Prosper Narteh Ogum. During his time at the helm, he enjoyed a remarkable spell of success, guiding the club to four trophies, the MTN FA Cup, the Toyota Cup, the President’s Cup and the Champion of Champions.
His achievements earned him confirmation as Kotoko’s permanent head coach ahead of the 2025/26 season.
However, his tenure came to an abrupt end after Kotoko suffered an FA Cup elimination at the hands of Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, prompting him to resign from the position.
Zito has since moved on to coach lower-tier side AshantiGold SC, but insists his connection with Kotoko remains strong.
“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know,” he told Akoma FM when asked about the possibility of returning to the club.
“But one thing is certain, I am still Kotoko, and I will continue to be Kotoko for the rest of my life. Go and look at my car; you’ll see the flag there.”
He added: “Oh, it might be possible. One day, I could come back. But for now, this chapter is closed. Next time, we’ll see.”
In the meantime, Prince Yaw Owusu has been appointed interim coach of Kotoko for the remainder of the season as the club looks to stabilise after the recent changes.
