Coach Maxwell konadu least expected his side's defeat in the 2020 CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso at the Kumasi Baba Yara stadium, the Black Star B head coach has admitted.
Coach Kumasi says despite having foreknowledge about how difficult the encounter was going to be," he did not expect his team to lose in that painful manner.
The Black Star B got punished at Baba Yara stadium as a 94th minutes Yannick Wendyam Pognongo strike saw Ghana lose for the second time to their neighbors in the North.
"We knew from day one that it was going to be difficult game then we didn't know that we could lose the match in the last minutes of extra time," Coach Konadu said in a post match press conference.
"My opponent has very discipline side and we tried to unlock their defense but their Goalkeeper was very good on the day.
" I think they played a good game but black Stars B played better than them."
He however expressed hopes in his hteams ability to grab qualifications as the two clashes on in the second leg in Ouagadougou.
Ghana failed to qualify for the 2018 edition of the CHAN after losing 2-1 in Kumasi to Burkina Faso and 4-3 on aggregate.
The first leg hand ended 2-2 in Burkina Faso, a result that paints a gloomy picture for for the Black Stars ahead of their October 18 clash.
But Konadu believes his team can cause havoc in Burkina Faso.
"I Believe anything can happened in Burkina Faso and I believe we have a good team and we can cause a surprise to any team on Africa Continent," he said.
"I believe we can go there and cause havoc.
"We want to prove Ghanaians wrong that we can qualify for the CHAN 2020 and we are going to do everything to go there and beat them in the second leg."
The aggregate winners after the second leg will join hosts Cameroon and 14 others in January next year for the tournament strictly reserved for players plying their trade in their home countries.
