Ghanaian rapper, Amerado, has made a candid revelation about his relationship with music, admitting that he never truly enjoyed being an artiste and only entered the industry as a means of survival.

Speaking in an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz, the Kwaku Ananse rapper shared that his journey into music was driven more by necessity than passion.
“The main reason I got into music was to survive. I just wanted to eat. Most of the time, I don’t even enjoy being an artiste," he said.

Amerado opened up about the pressures and expectations that come with fame, particularly the constant demand to give handouts in public spaces.

He cited these as major reasons behind his disillusionment with the industry.

“I feel restricted. Whenever you’re in public, especially in traffic, you’re expected to hand out money to fans. That expectation alone is stressful.”

Despite the challenges, the rapper acknowledged that performing live on stage remains one of the few aspects of his career that brings him joy. It’s during these moments, he said, that he feels a genuine connection with fans and sees the real impact of his music.

“The maintenance no be easy,” he added, alluding to the emotional and financial demands of life in the spotlight.

When asked what alternative career path he might have chosen, Amerado revealed that he would have pursued professional football.
