The death of Shaykh Ali Ahmed Maikano Kalamu has shaken the entire Islamic fraternity including Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana.

His shocking death occurred Wednesday morning, March 17, 2021, in what MyNewsGH.com reported was a robbery attack.

MyNewsGH.com reported that the sad incident took place on the Abromase road where Ali Maikano Jallow and his entourage were headed for a Maulid event in which he was a Special Guest.

The Armed robbers blocked the road and were robbing travellers amidst opening of fireams which Ali Maikano succumbed to, the report said.

Shaykh Ali Ahmed Maikano Kalamu was a popular son of late Ghanaian Tijaniyya Cleric Ahmed Maikano Jallow of Prang in the Bono East Region.

Reacting to the incident, Vice President, Dr. Bawumia said he received the news with shock.

"I received with shock the news of the death of Shaykh Ali Ahmed Maikano Kalamu this morning." He wrote on his Facebook page.

Eulogizing late Shaykh Ali Ahmed Maikano Kalamu, Dr Bawumia described him as a "learned" and "peaceful" man who fought the unity of Muslims in Ghana.

"The learned Shayhk was a man of peace who worked for the unity of the Muslim community in Ghana." He eulogized.

He added, "I offer my condolences to the Maikano family and the Jallo fraternity.

May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and unite him with his father, Shaykh Abdulaihi Maikano and all departed souls."
