Top Hollywood Actress, Angelina Jolie has heaped praises on the late former United Nation Secretary General, Kofi Annan.

In a statement by Angelina Jolie, who is also UNHCR Special Envoy, said she is deeply saddened by the death and she will forever remember him.

“I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Kofi Annan, a true global statesman and man of integrity. Like many others, I will remember him for his kindness, his grace, and his calm strength of purpose. My thoughts are with his wife and family,” she said in the statement on UNHCR website.

An outpouring of heartfelt tributes has since flooded social media in the wake of the passing of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

World leaders including President Nana Akufo-Addo, President Rashtrapati Bhavan of India, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Amnesty Secretary- General Kumi Naidoo, Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister Simon Coveney among others have taken to their Twitter handles to share tributes.

Mr Annan died at age 80 in Berne, Switzerland, on Saturday, 18 August 2018 after a short illness.

Kofi Annan served as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations from January 1997 to December 2006.

He was the founder and chairman of the Kofi Annan Foundation, as well as chairman of The Elders, an international organization founded by Nelson Mandela.

He was survived by a wife and three children.
