Veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Adjorlolo has revealed that his true passion lies not in acting, but in music, a dream he had long before stepping into the spotlight as an actor.
Speaking on The Liz Show with Elizabeth Essuman, Adjorlolo shared that as a child, many believed he was destined for a career in music due to his natural talent and deep love for it.
“I love music so much that as of 8 years old, I could play the trumpet so well,” he said.
His early dedication led him to perform alongside celebrated musicians such as Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Sir Victor Uwaifo, marking a promising start in music before his eventual rise to fame as an actor.
Despite his success on screen, Adjorlolo voiced his disappointment with the state of Ghana’s film industry.
He cited the lack of support systems, inadequate structures, and absence of insurance as key challenges facing actors today.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t encourage my children to go into acting. The current situation in Ghana isn’t encouraging, attractive, or enabling for young ones to thrive in this field. Do we even have insurance to back our actors and actresses?” he stated.
Adjorlolo’s comments have sparked conversations around the need for reforms and better protection for creative professionals in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
