Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claims that he previously advised Ghanaians not to support Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's quest of becoming president of Ghana.
He claims that he sent the warning after later realizing that Nana Akufo-Addo, if elected president, would ultimately destroy this nation.
Dr. Tamakloe said that even though he supported Nana Addo when the party was in opposition, he eventually understood that he was going to put Ghana in danger and began raising the alarm about his possibilities.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe make the remarks in response to Alan Kyerematen's withdrawal from the party's flagbearership contest.
"Very few people can stand up and say that when Akufo-Addo was in opposition they backed him more than I did, but when I realized he would lead this country into some sort of jeopardy, I warned Ghanaians not to vote him into power," said Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe.
He emphasized that the NPP as as a group had everything under control until the emergence of party militias, which intimidated the some party members and even drove some national security officers from their jobs.
Dr. Tamakloe said now that Mr. Alan Kyerematen is aware that the NPP has flaws, he must endeavor to save the organization from impending doom.
Additionally, he counseled other party officials who believed they have not receive fair treatment to support Alan Kyerematen and strengthen the party.
"As for our party, if we are not careful, it is leading into destruction, so Alan Kyerematen has noticed the dangers as he enumerated in his statement, then others who want the NPP to stand as a political party should get behind him and lift the party up," he advised.
The delay in Mr. Alan Kyerematen's departure from the Akufo-Addo administration, however, received harsh criticism from Dr. Tamakloe.
"I told him, he should have resigned earlier because he was a cabinet minister and he knew about the infractions going on. If I were Alan I would have resigned earlier on principles, things would have been easier for him today," he chastised.
