Ghanaian actress and businesswoman, Fella Makafui, shared her experience about being let go from the well-known TV show YOLO.

In a distinctive discussion with Pulse Ghana, Fella revealed how she got the part of Serwaa and the reasons she was initially reluctant to accept the role.

“YOLO was my significant breakthrough. There’s actually an amusing tale regarding how I came to portray Serwaa. When I went for the audition, I was aiming for the part of Emily, which I really desired. Eventually, I received a call informing me that I was chosen, but I would be taking on the role of Serwaa instead,” she explained.

Fella expressed that she was unsure about accepting the role since it brought back memories of her earlier experiences.

“I really didn’t want to do it. I had spent so many years assisting my mom in selling bread, and now I was expected to act as a bread seller again? I told them I wouldn’t be participating. There was a lot of discussion until my sister encouraged me to give it a shot. Ironically, the initial scene we filmed had to be redone because I was frowning throughout; it truly wasn’t a role I was excited about,” she remarked.

When questioned about her absence from the last season of YOLO, Fella replied, “I was removed.”

Despite this challenge, Fella stated that she took the chance to shift her focus toward entrepreneurship. Soon after exiting the show, she introduced her fashion label, Fella Clothing, and later explored the wine and spirits industry.

Nonetheless, she acknowledged that not every venture suits her lifestyle or character.

“Through the years, I’ve realized that you should engage in businesses you’re genuinely passionate about. The wine and liquor industry isn’t my fit. I don’t socialize much, and in that field, one needs to be outgoing, mingling with wealthy individuals and marketing products. That’s not who I am,” she explained.
