Ghanaian boxing legend Azumah Nelson says that he is not surprised by Anthony Joshua's victory over Mexican Andy Ruiz in their World Heavyweight title fight.
The two boxers came face to face on Saturday night in the Gulf nation of Saudi Arabia after the Englishman was floored by Ruiz in their earlier bout six months ago in the States.
Speaking in an interview on Kwese Tv with Yaw Sakyi the Ghanaian boxing legend said he was least surprised about Joshua's victory since from day one he has always been the better boxer.
"I was not surprised Anthony Joshua won because he is a better boxer than Andy Ruiz"
"It was by mistake that he lost the first fight so I was not least surprised he won last night"
"He did the right thing last night and won" he stated.
Anthony Joshua beat Andy Ruiz by unanimous decision to win the World heavyweight title in Saudi Arabia after 12 rounds in a match heavily dominated by the British boxer.
The judges had it 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109. The two men hug in the centre of the ring, it’s clear they have tremendous respect for each other as Joshua chats to Ruiz for 30 seconds or so.
Anthony Joshua became a two-time world heavyweight champion with a unanimous points victory over Andy Ruiz Jr in a tense rematch in Saudi Arabia.
Six months on from the night Ruiz stunned boxing, Joshua risked seeing his career left in tatters with a second defeat, but served up 36 minutes of movement and well-timed punching to take the IBF, WBA and WBO titles back to Britain.
