British Deputy High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Keith McMahon, has publicly expressed regret that Liverpool failed to sign Mohammed Kudus during the summer transfer window, opting instead for Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

“Kudus. The man is amazing,” McMahon told TV3.
“I don’t know why we didn’t buy him from West Ham. I would have bought him before Wirtz.”

Liverpool’s £116 million signing of Florian Wirtz has yet to pay dividends, with the German playmaker going 11 matches without a goal under new manager Arne Slot, drawing criticism from fans and pundits alike.

Meanwhile, Kudus, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham, has made an immediate impact:

He has so far  made 8 appearances for Spurs and has notched one (1) goal  with four (4) assists for the North London club whilst Florian Wirtz has made eleven (11) appearances for Liverpool, registered one (1) assist and is yet to score in Liverpool colours.

The Ghanaian’s performances have sparked debate among Liverpool fans, many wondering what might have been had the club pursued Kudus instead.

McMahon’s comments reflect a growing admiration for Ghanaian talent on the global stage, and his candid remarks have added a diplomatic twist to the ongoing transfer discourse.
