The new Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Kwaku Asoma-Cheremeh, has promised to continue the work of John Peter Amewu, who is now the Minister of Energy.

Asoma-Cheremeh, who was, before his recent appointment, the minister for the Brong Ahafo region, added that the illegal miners should never presume the fight against their work has come to an end.

Speaking on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Friday, August 10, he stated that “I will continue from where Amewu left off, and, so, anybody rejoicing that Amewu has been removed should stand well because I will continue the fight against galamsey.”

He promised to strengthen the fight even more to protect the water bodies as the vision of the president is.

He went on to say that the fight against illegal mining will be strengthened, as the law will be followed to make sure that water bodies, as well as the environment, are protected.

This, he explained, is in line with President Akufo-Addo’s vision to ensure that Ghanaians have access to safe water bodies as well as environments.
