The long-brewing clash between controversial televangelist Patricia Asiedua, known widely as Nana Agradaa, and gospel musician Empress Gifty Adorye has entered a dramatic new chapter, with legal fireworks and threats of international litigation now taking center stage.

Just a day after Empress Gifty filed a defamation lawsuit demanding GH₵20 million in damages, Agradaa has broken her silence in a fiery video response, vowing not only to contest the suit but to countersue in what she claims will be a bigger legal offensive — this time against Gifty’s husband, politician Hopeson Adorye.

On May 20, 2025, Empress Gifty, through her lawyers at Ossei-Aidooh Akpokavie Kyere & Co., filed a writ at the Tema High Court accusing Agradaa of slander and libel.

According to the suit, the gospel singer claims her reputation has been seriously damaged by defamatory comments made by Agradaa in a series of social media videos and audio posts.

The court documents request four key reliefs:

1. General damages of GH₵20 million;

2. A perpetual injunction to stop Agradaa from making further defamatory remarks;

3. An order for the removal of all offensive social media content;

4. Payment of legal costs and professional fees.

Additionally, the suit warns Agradaa to respond within eight days or risk a default judgment.

Agradaa’s Fiery Response

In a video posted to her Instagram page on May 21, the former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist declared that no amount of litigation could silence her.

“I don’t give a damn. You can sue me 100 times or 200 times. I’m not among those you can intimidate with court cases,” Agradaa fired back.

But she didn’t stop there.

Agradaa threatened to countersue Hopeson Adorye in an “international court,” claiming the former government appointee had also defamed her in the past.

She boasted that she would demand compensation in US dollars — an amount she said would exceed the GH₵20 million her rival is seeking.

“I will sue your husband in international court and take dollars, convert them to cedis, and give you change,” she declared in her trademark brash style.

The current legal battle is not an isolated incident but part of a broader feud involving political undercurrents and personal attacks.

Earlier in the week, a controversial video surfaced showing Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), handing Agradaa an undisclosed sum of money.

The video went viral, sparking widespread condemnation and speculation about political ties and motives.

In response, Hopeson Adorye and Empress Gifty publicly criticized Agradaa and called for scrutiny into her dealings.

This criticism seemingly triggered Agradaa’s retaliation, as she began targeting Empress Gifty in online posts, dragging the gospel singer into what many saw as a politically motivated dispute turned personal.

The situation further escalated when Hopeson Adorye warned the public against attacking his wife, calling himself her “gatekeeper” and promising consequences for any public smear against her.
