A junior officer of the Ghana armed forces lance corporal Wasaa is in hot waters after a viral video of him went round calling on members of Parliament to drop their quest to spend $200 million building a new chamber.
The soldier since the video is alleged to have been locked up at Burma camp as punishment for that outburst.
A group calling itself Dynamic Youth Movement of Ghana, (DYMOG) has called for the immediate release of Lance Corporal Wasaa.
Reacting to this incident in an interview with Kumasi based Otec Fm, deputy minister for interior Major Rtd Derrick Oduro who also doubles as member of parliament for Nkoranza North has urged those calling for the military high command to release the soldier to go to Burma camp and release him If they are men.
“Those calling for the release of the soldier in detention can go to Burma Camp if they are men” he retorted
He went further to question the physiological health of the incarcerated soldier bemoaning what the young soldier did as an indictment on the military command which even senior ranks like the chief of defence staff and other senior officers will never fathom talk of doing it.
“What is in this Lance Corporal Head? Let us take him to psychiatric hospital for examination” the former soldier quipped
The decision to construct the 450 seater capacity chamber has since been shelved by Parliament.
