General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has advised flagbrear aspirants of the party to refrain from responding to the attacks by the second deputy, Mr Alban Bagbin.
He pointed out that the responding to the supposed dirty campaign of by other contestants and their followers will mar the campaign process.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah fears the trend will give their opponents political weapon to attack them should the contest get dirty in the preliminary stages.
“Our opponents will always wish bad for us and so we must be careful how we do our things. Lets be cautious not to jump into the fray and attack each other to create tension in the party.” he warned in an interview with host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM.
Bagbin went all out attacking former President Mahama when he stormed the Volta Region last week to begin his campaign to contest the vacant flagbearer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Several party officials including the National Organiser of the main National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams has condemned the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin saying the latter is bent on making mischief with a blithe disregard for decency in his campaign.
But Mr. Asiedu Nketiah says the party at the right time will call him to order when it becomes necessary.
“If it comes to our attention that there’s likely to be a problem somewhere, will do well to verify and give him the necessary caution against such campaign.” he noted.
