Gor Mahia midfielder Enoch Morrison has expressed excitement over the appointment of Charles Kwablan Akonnor as the club’s new head coach, confident that the Ghanaian tactician will bring success to the Kenyan giants.

The 52-year-old former Black Stars manager was unveiled earlier this week alongside a fully Ghanaian technical team, which includes Bismark Kobby Mensah as assistant coach and Ben Owu as the goalkeeper’s trainer.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanasportspage, Morrison revealed that the players were informed of the new appointments just a day before the official announcement.

“The team informed us about the appointment yesterday. It’s not only CK but the assistant and the goalkeeper’s trainer are all Ghanaians, which makes me very happy,” said the former Asante Kotoko midfielder.

Morrison, who joined Gor Mahia as the sole Ghanaian player, is optimistic that Akonnor's leadership will inspire the team to greater heights.

“I’m 100 per cent sure that CK will lead us to success. Some players asked me about how CK is, and I told them he is very strict. He is someone I believe can manage egos, and I believe he will do well,” he added.

The 24-year-old also shared how the presence of a Ghanaian technical bench brings a sense of belonging and will help improve communication within the team.

“I’m excited because I was the only Ghanaian, and it was difficult to blend in. This will make things much easier for me,” Morrison concluded.

Akonnor's arrival marks a new chapter for Gor Mahia, who are aiming to reclaim domestic dominance and make an impact on the continental stage.
