Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South, acknowledged the efforts of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare during the elections but expressed some dissatisfaction with his performance.
In an interview, Iddrisu praised the police for maintaining peace and ensuring low crime rates during the election period, particularly highlighting the arrests made at polling stations in Nyankpala.
However, he criticized the presence of weapons at polling stations, which he believed intimidated voters and compromised the election's integrity.
He argued that incidents like those in Nyankpala undermined the fairness of the elections, as they instilled fear and may have influenced voter turnout.
