An avid supporter of the incumbent Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Takyi Arhin, has weighed in on the disqualification of George Afriyie from the GFA Presidential race.

George Afriyie, the former GFA Vice President, was disqualified by the GFA Elections Committee, and his appeal against the decision was subsequently upheld by the Appeals Committee.

Arhin expressed that he was not surprised by the dismissal of George Afriyie's appeal, as the initial verdict was deemed to be rock-solid.

He commented on the matter, stating that "If you read the verdict, it was so watertight it will be very difficult for the Appeals Committee to overturn it. So for some of us, it is not a surprise because coming events always cast their own shadows, so we are not surprised "he told Peace FM.

Arhin also shared his perspective on the situation, suggesting that he would have preferred to see more candidates contesting against Kurt Okraku, the incumbent GFA President.

He noted a specific criterion that George Afriyie did not meet, mentioning, "Former Vice President of the GFA, you wanted just five clubs to endorse you, and you go and pick someone who is not a director and a signatory to the club, I think that there is no tears for Ananse," using a local proverb to emphasize his point.
