Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie has cleared the air on widespread rumours regarding her health, assuring fans that she does not have cancer.

Concerns were raised after a video clip from her TV show, Mercy’s Menu, went viral.

In the clip, Mercy Johnson spoke candidly with actress Joke Silva about a past health scare, sudden weight loss, and thyroid surgery. The conversation led some fans to mistakenly believe the actress was battling cancer, prompting an outpouring of concern, prayers, and well-wishes on social media.

Addressing the matter in a video posted on her Instagram page, Mercy Johnson clarified that although she had a cancer scare, the tumour on her thyroid was eventually confirmed to be non-cancerous.

“I’m perfectly okay. Thank you so much for all of your calls and your messages. I do not have cancer,” she said.

She explained that her doctors initially suspected something serious due to a swelling on her neck, but further medical evaluation revealed it was not dangerous.

“I noticed that a clip from my TV show, Mercy’s Menu has been flying around and I think it was cut, they cut the clip. I said I had a cancer scare. It means that I’ve this swelling on my neck, if you can see the line there, and my doctors felt it was something serious. I had problems with my thyroid."
