The once-envied marriage between Nollywood sensation Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, has erupted into a public scandal that has gripped Nigeria’s social media space.
What began as a seemingly affectionate union between a young starlet and a wealthy politician has now descended into mutual accusations of violence, drug abuse, and emotional turmoil.
A Mother’s Regret Resurfaces
In a resurfaced interview from October 7, Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, expressed deep regret over her daughter’s controversial marriage.
Speaking to BBC Igbo, Rita admitted she never supported Regina’s decision to marry Ned Nwoko, insisting that her daughter made the choice on her own.
“I never wanted my daughter to marry Ned Nwoko, but she insisted. People blame me for facilitating it, but that’s not true. Still, I’d rather take the blame than let them blame her for any bad decisions,” Rita Daniels said emotionally.
Her comments have gained renewed attention in light of the ongoing domestic turmoil, offering painful hindsight into a relationship that has been under scrutiny since its inception.
Ned Nwoko Fires Back
Following a viral video showing Regina Daniels in tears, accusing her husband of domestic violence, Senator Nwoko has broken his silence—turning the accusations back on his wife.
In a strongly worded statement titled “Regina’s Unprovoked Carnage and Rampage in My House and in My Absence”, Nwoko alleged that Regina’s recent outbursts stem from drug and alcohol addiction.
He described her as being in the grips of a mental and emotional decline that has endangered their household.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem,” Nwoko claimed.
According to him, Regina allegedly refused to continue her rehabilitation program and instead lashed out violently, attacking domestic staff, smashing windows, and damaging vehicles while he was away.
He further alleged that the incident endangered their young son, Moon, whom he personally rushed to the hospital.
The senator also named two individuals—Sammy and Ann—as alleged drug suppliers to the actress, insisting that she must undergo rehabilitation either in Abuja or abroad.
Viral Video Sparks Outrage
The controversy exploded after a disturbing video of Regina Daniels surfaced online on October 18, 2025. The footage showed the actress visibly distressed and crying as she lamented:
“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing. But in my own house, I am a queen. Not again—I can’t stand the violence. It’s too much.”
The clip, viewed millions of times within hours, triggered a wave of public outrage.
Eyewitnesses captured in the video appeared to restrain Regina, while a man wielding a stick stood nearby—fueling suspicions that a physical altercation had taken place moments earlier.
Brother’s Fiery Reaction
The online uproar intensified when Regina’s brother, Ojeogwu Samuel Danhillman—popularly known as Sammy West—publicly accused Senator Nwoko of physically assaulting his sister.
In a passionate Instagram post, he claimed Nwoko beat Regina and smashed her head against a wall, before allegedly sending “thugs” after her.
“Anywhere a man beats a woman, whether it’s my sister or not, I will fight with my blood. Senator Ned Nwoko, you’re lucky you ran after you beat my sister and smashed her head on the wall!” he wrote furiously.
The statement went viral, further damaging Nwoko’s public image, although the senator’s later response painted a very different picture—one that cast Regina as the aggressor.
A Love Story Built on Controversy
Regina Daniels’ marriage to Ned Nwoko has been controversial since day one.
The couple tied the knot in 2019, when Regina was just 19 and the politician was 59.
The 40-year age gap, combined with Nwoko’s polygamous status, made the relationship a lightning rod for criticism.
Despite the backlash, the couple maintained a picture-perfect public image—luxury vacations, lavish birthday gifts, and glowing family portraits.
On social media, Regina often referred to her husband as her “King,” while Nwoko praised her as “his joy and pride.”
However, earlier this year, rumors of trouble began circulating when Regina quietly deleted her husband’s pictures from Instagram and removed his surname from her bio.
In March 2025, Nwoko tried to dispel the rumors by posting a poetic message for their anniversary:
“Let them talk, let them guess. At the end, when curtains close, it’s us, my love, that victory knows.”
Yet, recent events suggest that the façade of harmony may have masked deep-seated problems.
A Storm After Calm
Only a week before the viral video, Regina shared a seemingly joyful birthday post on October 10, teasing her husband about misplacing her wedding ring.
“He was hell-bent on not getting a new one because he thought it was one of my mischiefs. To cut the story short, he finally bought a new one—better than the old,” she joked.
