Dr Avraham Neguise Chairman of the Committee for Immigration , Absorption and Diaspora Affairs of the Parliament of Israel ( the Knesset) has expressed hope that Ghana will move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem the new capital city of the country as the United States of America has done under the US President Donald Trump.

Dr Neguise made the comment today when a delegation of the Israel - Ghana Parliamentary Friendship Association paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Professor Michael Aaron Oquaye.

The delegation was accompanied by the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana Shani Cooper - .Zubida .

Dr Avraham Neguise also urged Ghana to do all it can to make Israel regain its observer status at the African Union which it ( Israel ) lost in 2002 . According to him Israel considers Ghana as an important ally from which it has much to learn . He said the Parliament of Israel will continue to share its experience with Ghana's legislature and also learn from its experience.

Dr Avraham Neguise hoped Israel and Ghana will continue to strengthen collaboration especially in the areas of agriculture , solar energy , water technology and religious tourism.

Hon Joyce Adjoa Akoh Dei MP for Bosome Freho and Chairman of the Ghana - Israel Parliamentary Friendship Association said the Parliament of Ghana
values its friendship with the Parliament of Israel and will continue to learn from it.

The Minority leader Hon Haruna Iddrisu said the best tribute Israel could pay to the late Dr Kofi Annan former UN Secretary General is to work for a peaceful resolution of the Israel and Palestinian conflict . He was optimistic that Ghana and Israel will continue to work together for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The Majority Leader Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said a two - state solution to the Israel - Palestinian conflict is still workable .

The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Prof Michael Aaron Oquaye commended the people of Israel for their spirit of patriotism adding that the commitment of the people of Israel to the national course is worth emulating .
The Speaker also emphasized more collaboration between Ghana and Israel especially in the areas of scientific development, agriculture and medicine .
