Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North constituency, Collins Owusu Amankwah has extolled President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for making clear the state of the Ghanaian economy.

“It takes only a bold and fair leader to categorically tell the state of its economy in a negative sense. This shows how truthful the President is in his speeches and leadership role,” he established.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has admitted the economy of Ghana is going through some trying times, but dismissed concerns that these difficulties amount to a crisis; assuring that the government is on top of the situation.

“ . . It is not a crisis, but the difficulties that we are going through now are difficulties that the system will be able to accommodate. It has meant some difficulties in the lives of ordinary people in Ghana, but they are events that were out of our control, which we have to find a way to accommodate,” he stated.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Community in New York, USA, President Akufo-Addo attributed the difficulties in the system to the “dramatic increase in crude oil prices” and the strengthening of the US dollar.

“ . . It’s a difficult situation, but difficult situations also require some amount of fortitude and firm action and that’s what we are trying to do at home,” he said.

Collins Owusu Amankwah, who spoke on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political segment cautioned members of the NDC to bear in mind that “it is easy destroying an economy like they did, but fixing it is hell as NPP are going through now”.

The Chairman of Parliament's Defense and Interior Committee said NDC should make all the noise due them all in name of coming back to power, but Ghanaians will also show them in reality where they belong.

To him, some citizens have criticized the current government of always comparing themselves to the past government which was sent out of power due to their corrupt and confused choices taken in governance, but “we have to do this to make them know the state at which they left the state and how far we have brought it”.

He added, it is their priority to keep comparing their style of fixing the economy to that of the immediate past government, yet they must keep citizens abreast on how wicked and adverse the previous government misused state properties, forgetting the purpose of the mandate bestowed them.
