Chairperson of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, Ernest Norgbey, has endorsed the Ghana Football Association’s decision to dismiss Otto Addo as head coach of the Ghana national football team.
Addo was relieved of his duties after consecutive defeats in international friendlies, with Ghana losing 5-1 to Austria before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Germany.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Norgbey described the decision as necessary, arguing that the team’s performances had been in decline for some time.
“It is the right time for him to be sacked,” he said. “I don’t know the kind of hope the GFA had in him, looking at the performance of the team.”
While acknowledging Addo’s role in guiding Ghana to qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the Ashaiman MP maintained that the achievement could not overshadow what he sees as a steady drop in standards.
He also stressed the importance of the next appointment, with the World Cup fast approaching and expectations high among supporters.
Attention now turns to the GFA’s next move, as the Black Stars look to rebuild confidence and regain momentum ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
