Frank Lampard has reaffirmed his faith in Ghanaian striker Brandon Thomas-Asante after the forward ended a difficult spell in front of goal during Coventry City F.C.’s latest victory in the EFL Championship.
Thomas-Asante scored as Coventry secured a convincing 3–0 win over Preston North End F.C., a result that keeps Lampard’s side firmly at the top of the table with a six-point lead over Middlesbrough F.C..
The 24-year-old, who had recently struggled to find the net, returned to the starting line-up and made an immediate impact with a well-taken goal.
Thomas-Asante began the 2025–26 season in strong form, but his progress was disrupted by injuries and a three-match suspension that limited his playing time and interrupted his rhythm.
Despite the challenges, Lampard said he has never doubted the striker’s ability.
“That’s scoring goals what he gave us right early in the season, and he’s obviously had his injury and then came back and suspension, so it’s been a bit broken for him since then,” Lampard said after the match.
“But I’ve got a lot of faith and love for Brandon working with him every day.”
The former England international added that the forward showed encouraging signs during the game, suggesting the goal could be the spark needed to reignite his season.
For Thomas-Asante, the strike could mark a turning point as Coventry continue their push for promotion to the Premier League.
