Ivory Coast eased into the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a convincing 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso, underlining their growing confidence in Morocco.

The Elephants took control of the contest early on, striking twice in the first half to put daylight between themselves and their West African rivals.

Amad Diallo opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing calmly after sustained pressure from Ivory Coast had stretched the Burkina Faso defence. The goal settled any early nerves and allowed them to dictate the tempo.

Twelve minutes later, Yan Diomande doubled the advantage with a composed finish, capping off a dominant spell that left Burkina Faso struggling to cope with Ivory Coast’s pace and movement.

By the interval, the Elephants were firmly in command, and they continued to control proceedings after the break, limiting Burkina Faso to few clear chances.

Any lingering hope of a comeback was put to bed late on when Bazoumana Touré added a third in the 87th minute, sealing a comfortable win.

Ivory Coast dominated possession and chances throughout the match, combining attacking flair with defensive solidity to ensure a stress-free passage into the last eight.

For Burkina Faso, it was a frustrating evening as they failed to match Ivory Coast’s intensity or sharpness in key moments.

Ivory Coast will now turn their attention to the quarter-finals which they will face Egypt.
