Energy Minister John Jinapor has reaffirmed that Ghana is not undergoing load shedding, stressing that the country currently has enough electricity generation capacity to meet national demand.
In a Facebook update on Friday, January 30, the Minister disclosed that he had met with heads of major power sector institutions to review the state of electricity supply nationwide and address recent public concerns.
According to Mr Jinapor, Ghana has enjoyed over ten months of uninterrupted power generation without any supply shortfalls, insisting that there is no deficit in electricity production.
He, however, acknowledged reports of persistent power outages in some parts of Accra and Kumasi, explaining that these interruptions are linked to technical and operational challenges within the power distribution system rather than a lack of available power.
“These outages are due to operational challenges within the system and not because of insufficient power generation,” he noted.
The Energy Minister said he has instructed the relevant agencies to urgently develop a detailed, time-bound action plan to fix the problems and restore consistent electricity supply in the affected communities.
He assured Ghanaians of the government’s commitment to delivering reliable and uninterrupted power, adding that concrete steps are already being taken to resolve the current challenges swiftly.
