Ghanaian striker Joel Fameye who plies his trade in Russia with newly promoted side FC Orenburg has been handed a late call up to the senior national team the Black Stars.

The Black Stars will next month play two friendly matches against Morocco in Rabat and Ivory Coast in Cape Coast.

C.K Akonnor and his charges will first travel to Morocco next Tuesday before facing Ivory Coast on Saturday.

The player who is a late inclusion is already training with the team at their camping base in Cape Coast as they prepare for the friendlies.


Fameye had an excellent season in the Russian lower tier league helping his team secure promotion to the Russian elite league as he scored 12 league goals and provided five assists.

During his days with Asokwa Deportivo in the national division one, he played for the Black Stars B before moving to Belarus in 2016.
