As part of his efforts in tackling open defecation in the Ejisu constituency, MP for the area, Dr. John Ampomtuah Kumah has commissioned and handed over ultra-modern toilet facilities, bathrooms and boreholes for 6 communities in his area.

The gesture forms part of the MP’s pledge to improve sanitation in the communities and also provide places convenience for his constituents.

The beneficiary communities are Bonwire, Besease, Boankra, Donyina, Akokroamon, and Essienimpong.

Other 30 communities in the constituency will also benefit from the MPs Sanitation Facilities Project.

The facility which will serve both males and females has a well-furnished office where the attendants would operate from.

Speaking during the commissioning, Dr John Kumah, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Finance, bemoaned how the communities have been in the need of toilet facilities for over the years.

"Before I was elected Member of Parliament for Ejisu, my assessment of my constituency revealed the lack of sanitation facilities resulting in various health challenges and community development problems

"In fulfillment of my commitment to my constituents, on this day (Friday) of 21st January 2022, I commissioned 6 ultra-modern seater toilets, bathrooms, and boreholes at 6 different communities in the constituency," he said.

He revealed this is the 9th facility that has been completed and handed over to the beneficiary communities whiles construction is ongoing in different communities.

He disclosed that the project are being founded in partnership with private companies.

The MP appealed to the beneficiary communities to take good care of the facilities.

Speaking on behalf of the chiefs from the six communities, Nana Acheampong Akwasi, the chief of Boankra said they have been in dire need of a toilet facility for so many years and this situation has been forcing them to engage in open defecation.
