Antoine Semenyo says he believes his best football is still ahead of him after completing a high-profile move from Bournemouth to Manchester City, insisting the switch will take his game to “the next level”.
The Ghana forward was officially unveiled by the Premier League champions this morning, ending a standout spell on the south coast and beginning what he describes as the most important chapter of his career so far.
Speaking after signing his contract, Semenyo pointed to Manchester City’s elite environment as a key factor in his decision.
“I feel like I’m still yet to reach my peak,” he said. “Joining City is going to be the best thing for my development. The best coaches, the best players, it’ll take my game to the next level.”
The 26-year-old arrives at the Etihad Stadium on the back of consistent Premier League performances with Bournemouth, where his strength, pace and direct attacking style made him a fan favourite and one of the club’s most influential players.
But Semenyo’s journey has not been straightforward. He has spoken candidly about the challenges he faced along the way, including difficult periods early in his career that tested his belief.
“I’ve had to push myself and get through a lot of troubled times, hard times,” he added. “It’s made me the man I am today.”
For Manchester City, Semenyo adds another attacking option as Pep Guardiola’s side continue their pursuit of silverware across multiple competitions. For Ghana, his move represents another milestone, with one of their internationals now joining Europe’s elite at one of the world’s most successful clubs.
As he settles into life at City, Semenyo’s message is clear: this is not the destination, but the platform from which he hopes to reach his peak.
