Columbus Crew defender Jonathan Mensah captained the Black Stars in the friendly defeat to Namibia on Sunday.

The 28 year old was handed the armband in the absence of substantive captain Andre Ayew and his deputy Kwadwo Asamoah who were both left out of the starting XI.

Andre watched the entire game from the bench while Asamoah was introduced in the second half to add impetus to Ghana’s midfield.

Manfred Starke’s solitary strike in the first half was enough to separate the sides at the Jaber Ali training facility in Dubai

Jonathan marked his Ghana debut against Uganda in 2009 and has since won 61 caps for the national side.
