Joy FM PrayerFest to bring Ghanaian families together ahead of 2026/27 school year

Joy FM will hold the maiden edition of its Back-to-School PrayerFest on Saturday, 29 August, ahead of the reopening of schools for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The national on-air prayer gathering will run from 03:00 to 05:30 on Joy FM’s PrayerLine, with parents, students, teachers, guardians and families across the country invited to take part.

The event is intended to place students, teachers, parents and educational institutions in God’s hands as preparations begin for the new academic year.

While families typically focus on buying uniforms, books and other school supplies before term begins, the PrayerFest will offer an opportunity to pray for the safety, wellbeing and success of children throughout the academic year.

Returning to school can bring excitement and fresh opportunities, but it can also create concerns about students’ safety, academic performance, friendships and the choices they make. Those concerns may be particularly significant for pupils and students who will be living away from home.

The prayers will therefore cover protection, wisdom, direction, favour and guidance for students, teachers, parents and educational institutions.

The sessions will be led by Ps. Ato Acquah, Ps. Kojo Frimpong and Ps. Mike Nii Abossey, together with other ministers of God.

Among those joining them will be Prophet Theodore Takyi of Theodore Takyi Ministries Worldwide, Rev. Paul Johnson Seadey of Glowing Light Church International and Apostle Benjamin Anokye Atta-Saow of Doers Chapel International.

Prayer will focus on several areas of the academic journey, including students’ safety and protection, academic excellence, wisdom and purpose, character and godly choices, and the influence of peers.

The role of teachers and parents will also be addressed, alongside the wellbeing and development of educational institutions.

Participants will further seek divine direction, favour and breakthroughs, as well as a successful 2026/2027 academic year for students, teachers and families.

Joy FM is urging parents, students, teachers, guardians and listeners nationwide to join the broadcast before schools reopen.

The Joy FM Back-to-School PrayerFest takes place on Saturday, 29 August, from 03:00 to 05:30 on PrayerLine.

The gathering forms part of preparations for the new academic year, with families encouraged to cover children in prayer before they return to school.

Back to School Discount Fair returns in September

Joy FM’s Back to School Discount Fair will also return from 4 to 5 September at the Joy FM Car Park in Kokomlemle, Accra.

The two-day event will give parents, guardians and students the chance to buy school essentials at discounted prices. It will be open from 08:00 to 20:00 on both days.

Products available at the fair will include school bags, shoes, stationery, books, uniforms, learning materials and other items needed for the new academic year. Families will also be able to take part in activities being organised alongside the shopping event.
