The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that it has parted ways with Irishman Chris Hughton as the coach of the senior men's national team the Black Stars.

"The Ghana Football Association wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior National team with immediate effect,” a statement from the GFA said.

“The Executive Council has also taken a decision to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars.

“The Ghana Football Association will in the coming days provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars.”

Houghton presided over another disastrous spell at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) where Ghana crashed out at the group stage for the second successive spell.

Ghana failed to win a single game as they lost its opening game against Islanders Cape Verde before throwing away two goal leads against Egypt and Mozambique in their last game.
