Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana played a pivotal role in Southampton’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Stoke City in the EFL Cup at St. Mary’s Stadium, providing a crucial assist late in the match.

Substituted into the game in the 81st minute, Sulemana made an immediate impact just seven minutes later.

With the score tied at 2-2, he found teammate James Bree positioned outside the box, who expertly fired the ball into the bottom left corner in the 88th minute, sealing Southampton's progression to the next round of the competition.

The match began with Southampton taking an early lead thanks to goals from Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Adam Armstrong, who converted a penalty in the first half.

However, Stoke City fought back, with Ashley Phillips scoring just before halftime to reduce the deficit. Thomas Cannon then equalized for Stoke in the 54th minute, setting up a tense finish.

Despite dominating possession with 78%, Southampton faced stiff resistance from Stoke throughout the match.

Sulemana's late contribution ultimately made the difference, allowing the home side to claim victory in front of a spirited crowd.

Looking ahead, Southampton will turn their attention to their upcoming league match against Everton on November 2nd.
