Dreams FC head coach Karim Zito has expressed confidence in his team’s tactical approach ahead of their Ghana Premier League matchday 14 clash against Asante Kotoko on Saturday, December 21, at the Tuba AstroTurf in Kasoa.
Acknowledging Kotoko's technical and physical strengths, Zito stressed the importance of a well-executed strategy to neutralize their threat and capitalize on opportunities.
Speaking at a media briefing, Zito highlighted Kotoko’s recent performances, particularly their sound tactical and technical approach.
"We all saw Kotoko against Hearts of Oak. Tactically and technically, they are very sound. Physically, they are very strong," he stated.
"Our focus will be on devising a strategy to stop them and finding ways to impose our game after doing so."
Zito underscored that merely halting Kotoko's attack would not suffice, emphasizing the need to create meaningful opportunities.
"It's not just about stopping them. You need to stop them and then find ways to play effectively, tracking their movements while creating space for ourselves to execute meaningful moves," he added.
Despite Kotoko's stature as one of Ghana's biggest clubs, Zito maintained that his players must remain focused during the game, acknowledging the respect they hold for their opponents but not allowing it to affect their performance.
"We have to give them the necessary respect outside the game, but during the game, we know we are playing Kotoko. It’s a big game for us, and we must approach it with determination," he noted.
Dreams FC had an impressive record against Kotoko last season, achieving two victories without conceding a goal.
However, this season has been challenging for the team, as they currently sit second from bottom on the league table with just 12 points from 12 matches.
Despite these struggles, Zito is optimistic about his side’s ability to replicate last season’s success and secure a crucial win.
