Police in Kasoa have arrested three men for allegedly sexually abusing their biological daughters, following a formal complaint filed by the Awutu Senya East Municipal Education Directorate.
According to officials, the victims opened up to the Girl-Child and Guidance and Counselling coordinators at their respective schools, prompting the directorate to alert the police immediately. The revelations have heightened concerns about what authorities describe as a troubling rise in child sexual abuse cases within the municipality.
Police acted swiftly, arresting the three fathers, who are now in custody assisting with investigations.
The Municipal Education Directorate expressed deep worry that violations of children’s rights continue to be pervasive in the area. It has called for enhanced collaboration among schools, community leaders, social welfare officers, and law enforcement agencies to ensure that vulnerable children receive timely protection and support.
Child-protection advocates note that sexual abuse within the home remains one of Ghana’s most underreported crimes. Cultural barriers, stigma, and the financial dependence of mothers on abusive fathers often silence families, while the trust children place in their parents creates conditions where abuse can remain hidden for long periods.
The Ghana Education Service (GES), social welfare agencies, and the police have repeatedly urged communities to strengthen vigilance and reporting mechanisms.
The Kasoa incident adds urgency to ongoing efforts to combat child sexual abuse. Authorities are encouraging community members to be alert to warning signs and report suspected cases, emphasizing that safeguarding children is a collective responsibility.
