Düsseldorf Fortuna's U -23 were defeated 3-2 at home by Aachen in the fourth tier league of German football where they play.
Ghana's Kelvin Ofori who featured for Fortuna thinks the 3-2 loss was harsh on his team considering their performance on the day.
After the final whistle by referee Robin Braun, the pitch at Paul-Janes-Stadion looked more like a plowed field than a lawn.
The picture was emblematic of the intense struggle that Fortuna's U 23 and Alemannia Aachen fought in the last game of the year in the regional soccer league on late Saturday afternoon.
Fortuna was in the lead by halftime, but ended up empty-handed. In fact, Alemannia had turned a deficit into a win for the first time this season.
This was thanks to the lucky hand of her coach Fuat Kilic, who had brought in the two winning goal scorers to make it 3-2 in the second half.
Aachen turned the game in their favour four minutes before the end “It may have been deserved because of the second half. Seen over 90 minutes, we would have earned a point, ”summarized Fortuna coach Nico Michaty.
In fact, after the early deficit, his team was the more active team and also showed that on the scoreboard. It took the home side five minutes to level the scores through Max Wegner to make it 1-1 (11th) and they took the lead Ghanaian youngster Kelvin Ofori (16th).
The Ghanaian was later substituted by Kevin Hagemann, who later spurned a big chance. It was a sticking point for Nico Michaty. "We simply failed to add the third goal," said the soccer teacher. So the guests not only stayed in the game, but also got more and more head water.
With his first action, "Joker" David Pütz headed in to compensate (66.). He thus served as a role model for his team-mate Florian Rüter, who, just recently substituted, scored to make it 3-2 (86.).
