Ken Ofori-Atta Petitions INTERPOL to remove his name from red notice
19th November 2025
Ken Ofori-Atta, Former Finance Minister
Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has formally applied to INTERPOL for the removal of his name from its Red Notice list, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has confirmed.
The OSP, which initiated the request for Mr. Ofori-Atta to be placed on the Red Notice earlier this year, revealed that in October 2025, the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files notified Ghanaian authorities of Mr. Ofori-Atta’s application to clear his name. The Commission subsequently requested Ghana’s official response to the application.
Ghana submitted its response on October 22, 2025.
In a follow-up communication on November 7, 2025, the Commission informed Ghana that Mr. Ofori-Atta had filed additional arguments in an addendum. Authorities were instructed to respond to these new submissions by November 21, 2025.
The case remains under review, and no final decision has been made. The OSP noted that during such proceedings, INTERPOL typically restricts public access to the individual’s name, photograph, and related details until the matter is resolved.
The OSP has urged the public to dismiss misinformation circulating about the status of the Red Notice, describing such reports as misleading and mischievous.
