Kwasi Kwarteng, Deputy Spokesperson for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, has said Mr. Agyapong’s presidential ambition is driven by a genuine desire to serve the nation.

Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Monday, December 15, Mr. Kwarteng explained that Mr. Agyapong’s decision to seek the presidency is aimed at addressing Ghana’s challenges in a sincere and solutions-focused manner, rather than pursuing personal or political interests.
"Ken does not want to be the president of Ghana just to advance individual purpose, political ambitions and future aspirations. He wants to become the president of Ghana to solve problems, the problems that confront us as a society, the problems of unemployment, the problem of jobs."

Mr Kwarteng stressed that the flagbearer hopeful is motivated by a commitment to national development and a willingness to tackle long-standing socio-economic issues with honesty and determination.
"His ambition of becoming president stems from the place of genuine concerns to come and solve the problems that confront us as a state. At no point is Ken indeed coming to advance the future ambition of any person or soever," he added.

The comments were made in response to recent remarks by former Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo. Mr Kwarteng insisted that Mr Agyapong’s vision to lead Ghana is rooted in public service and a clear understanding of the needs of ordinary Ghanaians.
