The Black Stars welcomed two key reinforcements on Wednesday evening in Nagoya, as AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu and CF Montreal striker Prince Osei Owusu joined the national team ahead of Friday’s international friendly against Japan.
Their arrival pushes the squad count to 21 players, following the earlier inclusion of Al Qadsiah winger Christopher Bonsu Baah, who trained with the team immediately upon arrival. Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare remains the final expected arrival, having featured in the Super Clash against Asante Kotoko last weekend.
CF Montreal forward, Prince Osei Owusu, who doubles as captain of the side had his first moments with the Black Stars as he did his conventional introductory initiation dance at the team hotel:
Salisu and Osei Owusu are set to participate in full training on Thursday at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi, where the Black Stars will hold their final session before the Kirin Challenge Cup fixture. The match, scheduled for Friday, November 14, serves as a vital tune-up for both Ghana and Japan as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
With a blend of European-based talent and emerging domestic stars, Ghana’s technical team is focused on building tactical cohesion and match sharpness. The integration of late arrivals is key to solidifying team chemistry and evaluating squad depth ahead of competitive fixtures.
