German-born defender Derrick Kohn is set to make his international debut for Ghana after receiving FIFA clearance to represent the Black Stars.

The 25-year-old left-back, who plays for Bundesliga side Union Berlin, has completed his nationality switch, making him eligible for selection for the Black Stars.

Kohn was previously called up by head coach Otto Addo during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September, but administrative delays prevented him from featuring.

The Black Stars will be taking part in the Kirin Cup in an Asian Tour where they battle it out with Japan and South Korea on 14th and 18th November respectively.

These friendlies form part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Kohn's inclusion brings about his individual expertise, such as tactical versatility and the vital Bundesliga experience, as well as defensive solidity with attacking instincts. He will also be able to adds depth to Ghana’s left-back options ahead of competitive fixtures which will go a long way into the 2026 FIFA World Cup and beyond.

Union Berlin confirmed his invitation, and Kohn is expected to make his debut in national colours during the Asian tour.

Derrick has been a prominent figure in the Union Berlin set-up this season as he has featured in all 10 German Bundesliga games as he started 60% of them.
