Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has praised the inclusion of Prince Owusu and Kelvin Nkrumah in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea, describing their call-ups as well-deserved and timely.
The duo joins Hearts of Oak captain Benjamin Asare as the only home-based players selected for the Black Stars’ Asian tour, which forms part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Ghana will face Japan on Friday, November 14, at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi, before traveling to Seoul for a second friendly against South Korea on Tuesday, November 18.
Tanko, a former Ghana assistant coach, believes Owusu and Nkrumah have earned their spots through consistent performances in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

“Prince Owusu and Kelvin Nkrumah deserve their Black Stars call-up considering their performance so far this season,” Tanko told Medeama’s media team. “I hope they get some minutes and showcase their talent to Ghanaians. We are behind them in prayers and wish them well.”
Prince Owusu made his senior debut during the final round of Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers, coming off the bench against Madagascar. Kelvin Nkrumah, meanwhile, is eyeing his first appearance for the national team — a milestone that could mark the beginning of a promising international career.
With Otto Addo’s squad blending overseas experience and local flair, the inclusion of Medeama’s duo signals growing confidence in domestic talent and offers a platform for them to shine on the global stage.
